While managing a salmon subsistence set-net site on the Wood River drainage above Dillingham near the McClung River mouth, a man named Keith, his wife Danielle, and their three young children (ages twelve, nine, and five) were targeted by an unusually bold entity. While stacking gear and mending twine on the riverbank, Keith's 12-year-old daughter pointed out a 'man' inside the 12-foot shoreline willow brush who was actively waving and smiling at her. Keith investigated with a shotgun, firing a warning blast into the air to deter what he assumed was a routine bear. Later, while backing their Lund skiff out into the current to anchor a gill net, Keith experienced a severe surveillance dread.
Stepping onto a lower section of the bank to smoke a cigarette, he observed a massive, silhouetted arm methodically waving back and forth through the brush line. Danielle suddenly screamed a warning as the giant entity rose up fully to stare directly down at their position, prompting the family to scramble into the skiff and retreat into the center channel. Anchored at a safe river distance, the family watched the massive humanoid peek out from the foliage. The 12-year-old daughter detailed that the entity looked like a man wearing a very dirty, dark-brownish fur hat or coat that completely rimmed his face.
As they re-approached the bank to retrieve their equipment and reset the buoy lines, the creature stood erect in full daylight near its original position, actively motioning for them to approach.
