#125 SHADOW IN THE MOONLIGHT

In the fall of 2019, just before the pandemic, a local high school senior named Jane was babysitting five young cousins (ranging in age from roughly five to twelve) at a federal HUD housing unit in a remote northwest coastal village of under 500 year-round residents near the Bering Sea. After coming indoors, the two youngest children were caught staring out a bedroom window, giggling and waving at a 'silly man' standing inside the immediate willow and scrub brush lines. Assuming it was an overactive imagination, Jane dismissed the event. Shortly after, the three older children also reported watching an unidentified figure in an all-black coat stand in the moonlit tundra executing strange arm gestures before stepping out of view. While sitting in the living room doing her history homework, Jane began experiencing a palpable, oppressive feeling of being watched that she had never encountered before.

Suddenly, a heavy 'thump-thump' impact rattled the exterior walls, causing the children in both bedrooms to scream in absolute terror as a massive dark figure sequentially tapped on their window panes. Jane immediately telephoned a relative who lived nearby, who arrived with a flashlight to investigate the elevated home's perimeter. Upon extinguishing their flashlights to prevent catching the kids' attention, Jane and her relative observed a massive figure pacing across the open tundra under the moonlight just 40 yards away. When the relative illuminated the target, the entity turned its head, projecting brilliant red eye-shine before stepping silently into the brush line. A posse of five or six heavily armed villagers mobilized on two four-wheelers to track the potential rogue bear down a branching tundra trail.

Exploring a ridge near a shallow gully, the searchers were targeted by intense group whistles coming from multiple directions. Spotting a low form crawling like a dog through the grass, they turned their headlights toward it, only for a giant entity to stand upright on two legs. A rider unleashed a desperate warning volley, causing the panicked driver to roll and crash the four-wheeler, severely injuring one hunter's leg. As they tended to their friend, a deafening shriek erupted from the dark rise, where the 10-foot humanoid was observed calmly walking across the tundra, forcing an immediate retreat.
