In the early 2000s, two brothers, Joseph and Monty, spent three weeks restoring a dilapidated trapping cabin in the remote Yukon-Kuskokwim Delta. While elevating the structure and patching the roof, they were subjected to a harrowing acoustic and physical campaign. After the brothers were hit by a series of 'imitation wolf howls' that occurred at a distance and then closed in on their position, they hunkered down inside the windowless shell.
During the night, they were terrorized by a rhythmic knocking on the logs—banging that tracked their movements and seemed to intelligently test for structural weaknesses. The siege escalated when a giant hand pressed against the window sill, revealing a flat-nosed, ash-gray, park-hooded creature before it retreated. Driven to the brink of a breakdown, the brothers finally resorted to prayer to find temporary solace, only for the entity to mimic Joseph's panicked sobbing directly outside the cabin wall.
The encounter concluded when a neighbor arrived, firing a 20-round magazine into the brush to force the entities away, leaving the brothers permanently traumatized by the sophisticated, coordinated, and mocking behavior of the creatures.
