During the 2024 bush flying season, an experienced pilot named Randy was making a cargo run in a friend's Piper Super Cub. Returning from Iliamna, a severe weather system with low ceilings and heavy crosswinds forced him into an emergency landing on a high, exposed knoll near the Tikchik River. After aggressively tying down the wings with wooden stakes, Randy settled into the tight cabin to sleep out the storm. The isolation broke when he heard a deep moaning over the howling wind, followed by a profound sense of dread as the entire plane violently shimmied.
Shining his flashlight up at the Super Cub's plexiglass canopy, Randy was met with a terrifying sight: a massive, hair-covered entity staring directly down at him. The creature exhaled, fogging the acrylic glass, revealing piercing golden-yellow eyes. When the flashlight hit its face, the entity let out a chest-rattling roar that vibrated the entire aircraft, before grabbing the plane and violently shoving it—nearly tipping the Super Cub completely onto its side. For hours, Randy sat trapped inside with a short-barreled shotgun as the massive creature continuously ran laps around the aircraft, tearing up a deep ring into the tundra.
The terrifying siege only ended when the creature began rummaging through the plane's exterior cargo. It ripped into a massive commercial container of cayenne pepper and Cajun seasoning meant for a remote lodge. Inhaling the fiery spice, the creature let out a god-awful, gargling hack, smashed against the belly tank of the plane, and sprinted down the knoll, unleashing a high-pitched, piercing scream. At first light, Randy scrambled outside to pull the tie-down stakes. Glancing down into the brush, he spotted a massive, 5-foot-wide silhouette squatting in the timber, its golden eyes glaring back at him. He narrowly managed a short-takeoff down the knoll to escape, discovering upon his safe return that the creature had torn a section of flight fabric off the tail wing during the assault.
