Take a journey back to the early 1974 pipeline boom in the Alaskan bush. While taking a one-week vacation from his strenuous work as a pipeline welding assistant, a welder named Sam accompanies his Native Alaskan friend to a remote area outside of Fort Yukon heading toward Venetie Landing. What was intended to be a relaxing camping trip along the banks of the Yukon River quickly devolves into a terrifying, multi-hour psychological standoff. After nightfall, Sam spots a static set of glowing eyes reflecting the campfire from less than 30 yards away. Believing it to be a bear, the two men decide to douse their fire and retreat out of the dense tree line to navigate the open riverbanks. For hours, an unseen presence aggressively paces and parallels them through the dark brush, mimicking their fast movements and stopping whenever they stop. As dawn breaks, they finally lock eyes with their stalker: a scrawny, jet-black, nine-foot-tall silhouetted figure swaying ominously at the tree line.
After a warning rifle shot temporarily drives the entity back, the men discover a massive 17-inch footprint stamped directly into the dirt of their abandoned campfire. Their frantic miles-long trek back to Fort Yukon becomes a race against time as the creature shadows them the entire way, culminating in a chilling final standoff where it blocks a fork in the trail ahead.
