#31 TUNDRA TERROR

Gathered around a hunting campfire in 2005, a First Nations elder recounted a harrowing 1968 encounter west of the Kvichak River. While hiking through the sparsely wooded tundra with two friends, they spotted a dark figure darting among the black spruce. Assuming it was a fellow hunter, they called out, only to be answered by a massive Hairy Man that suddenly burst from the brush. The men immediately opened fire, sending the creature sprinting toward a nearby beaver pond, where it dove in and vanished beneath the surface.

After setting up camp for the night near the pond, the situation escalated into a full-blown siege. The men soon found themselves surrounded by multiple entities utilizing a sophisticated, tactical assault. While one massive creature bellowed a distraction from 400 yards across the tundra, another was seen dragging an injured companion into the dark timber. Moments later, a creature hidden in the brush began violently hurling broken trees directly into their camp, attempting to extinguish their fire. Desperate, the men fashioned a makeshift torch using a ripped flannel shirt soaked in whiskey and began a terrifying three-mile retreat in the pitch black. The entire way, a towering entity silently paced them from just 20 feet away, its black eyes reflecting the dancing firelight, before violently tearing up the earth and disappearing into the night.
