Fred embarks on his first dedicated field research expedition under the Alaska Hairy Man Project, traveling to an intensely remote coastal property where the Gulf of Alaska meets the Chugach Range. Joining fellow researchers Larry "Beans" Baxter and investigator Rob Roy, the group explores dense, moss-draped coastal rainforest near the location of Les Stroud’s notable Alaskan incident. Even before diving into the wilderness, the expedition starts on edge after a loud, echoing whoop vocalization rings out across the bay just as they arrive at the cabin.
Rob Roy sits down with Fred to detail years of documented high strangeness surrounding the off-grid site, beginning with his first visit when two deafening, gunshot-like wood knocks cracked from the pitch-black timber right in front of him. Rob recounts the visceral shock and primal panic that instantly took over, comparing it to seeing a shark fin rise next to you in the water as he hastily retreated to the safety of the cabin deck. Since that first night, the location has produced a pattern of deliberate activity, ranging from mid-day whoop calls to territorial growls directed at cabin visitors.
The investigation has yielded compelling physical evidence around the property, particularly near an outhouse that has been repeatedly jostled, targeted, and had its fixtures torn up. Rob describes discovering a 16-inch humanoid footprint with an abnormally large big toe pressed into freshly turned soil by the outhouse, capturing a clear cast complete with dermal ridges and visible metatarsal structure. The team also recounts systematic gifting experiments on an old stump, noting missing peanut butter jars found emptied with massive leaves deliberately jammed inside, scattered beads from left necklaces, and hand mirrors removed and discarded into the surrounding brush.
