Fred's Experience

These shares involve Fred's own experiences—shares where the channel host is the witness or on-site participant, not only the interviewer.

These are first-person or on-camera field moments from Fred himself. Browse this topic for his direct encounters and field investigations alongside guest stories.

This footage documents a Memorial Day weekend excursion into the Knik River Valley, specifically targeting the trails surrounding the Knik Glacier and Moose Meadows. Fred (the host) narrates a ride through the rugged, rutted ATV trails near the Matanuska River, documenting the changing landscape and local wildlife activity, including an eagle's nest and active beaver dams which have significantly altered the local hydrology.

In an on-site field interview conducted north of Willow along the Deception Creek trail system, a lifelong Alaskan outdoorsman named Ryan walked the channel researcher through a highly strategic, dual-creature stalking encounter. While tracking a game trail leading past a localized swamp clearing at dusk, Ryan's two highly trained dogs—Keen and Brutus—suddenly locked up with their hackles completely raised. A massive unseen presence began heavily pacing and paralleling Ryan's route through a dense thicket of tall willow and alder brush just 20 to 25 yards away.

This is an encounter I had while riding snowmobiles with friends back in winter of 1994.

I give you a demonstration on why Alaska is known as the land of the midnight sun, and a creepy encounter we had off a tributary off the Wood River.

I share some oral history from my elders, and an encounter of mine with some cousins while picking berries during the Fall of 1998.

Here's a story of mine from my younger days back in 1984 when hiking with my older sister and her boyfriend, when I heard a distinct whistle and voices in the distance where nobody was.  I also share a scarier experience of mine of voices in the wind that happened while camping with friends in Sunshine Valley.

I share an encounter I had with a hunting guide and his client who was looking to bag a Hairy Man after an experience he had years prior. Spoiler alert: he changed his mind.

I share an experience I had in 1998 with my friend William while hunting for spruce chickens at a gravel pit off Aleknagik Lake Road.

This is a brief experience I had in early Summer of 1994 on Huckleberry Island in Lake Aleknagik.

These events occured 1998 in the Wood-Tikchik State Park in a canoe on the Aguluwok River with my friend Brian.  This area has a long history of encounters.

I share an encounter I experienced with two other relatives in 2007 on the Nushagak River.  I've shared this experience before, but I give some more detail in this video.

I share an experience from the summer of 1994 up the Nushagak River involving myself and three others.
