#144 DANGEROUS INCIDENT IN S E ALASKA

Outside of Yakutat within the Tongass National Forest, siblings Tatiana and Nikolai spent five years renovating an inherited family cabin that had been abandoned for two decades. The aggressive encounters escalations began in the second year when Nikolai used a weed-whacker to clear a switchback trail behind the cabin to mitigate bear encounters, unaware that Tatiana's Australian Shepherd had been consistently alerting to a presence hiding on the slope. Three years later, Tatiana returned with her city-dwelling fiance, Robert, and their dog, Roscoe. While moving supplies up from the beach, a marble-sized rock violently struck Robert dead-center in the chest, causing Roscoe to sprint forward, lock up in terror, and flee to hide under the bow of their skiff. Shortly after, Nikolai was hit in the chest by an identical thrown rock while walking up to the cabin. While unpacking inside, Tatiana noticed the master bedroom window grow suddenly dark; as she approached, a massive dark figure abruptly backed away from the glass pane, emitting a shrill, pig-like squeal that shook the cabin structure. Nikolai investigated and found large double-impression ground compressions. Later that afternoon, the dog began barking wildly from the deck, prompting Nikolai to walk up the switchback with his .454 Casull pistol, where he observed a massive, stationary dark silhouette standing 35 yards away and 25 feet up the ridge.

Nikolai fired a shot, but the entity remained totally unmoved. At dusk, while the group watched a DVD powered by a small Honda generator, a heavy thud vibrated the floorboards and the power cut out. Nikolai stepped outside with a flashlight and discovered the generator had been cleanly stolen from its platform. Inching around the corner of the deck, he caught a glimpse of the heavy engine flying directly at his face, narrowly ducking as it was hurled down the hillside with immense force. Later that night, while spotlighting from the deck, the group felt the wood structure shiver, turning to find a massive creature standing at the edge of the deck staring directly into their flashlights at point-blank range. The entity possessed a highly wrinkled face, a flat broad nose, light grayish skin, pitch-black eyes, and a prominent ring of hair below its nose. It bared its teeth aggressively before melting into the darkness. The following morning, while searching the upper ridge game trails, Roscoe let out a sharp Yelp and instantly vanished into thin air.

Returning to the cabin in panic, Robert pointed out the kitchen window to show the 9-foot entity standing just 25 feet away in the brush line looking back at them. Nikolai ran out, causing it to scale a sheer rock-and-moss cliff at impossible vertical speed. Rushing down to the beach to escape, Nikolai found their 22-foot aluminum skiff flipped completely upside-down with its outboard motor completely submerged and ruined. After swapping out a backup motor, Roscoe suddenly materialized out of the brush unharmed. A year later, Nikolai returned with a friend, Jeff, to salvage the ruined outboard motor. While carrying the heavy engine down the path, a rock zipped over Nikolai's shoulder and struck Jeff hard in the center of the chest. Jeff dropped the engine, drew his rifle, and spotted the same massive entity standing right next to the cabin near the platform site, forcing them to abandon the task and flee the bay permanently.
