Approximately 3 years prior to 2026, two cousins, Jacob and his relative, embarked on a snowmachine expedition into the Chugach Mountains to collect beetle-kill firewood and set traps for marten and wolverine. While mapping out a clearing, the cousins were intercepted by a 10-foot-tall, dark, hulking entity standing between two trees. The entity’s presence was confirmed by a series of sharp, rhythmic 'whooping' vocalizations that circled their location, forcing the pair to flee.
During the high-speed transit back to their truck, the cousins discovered that their parked snowmachine had been completely overturned and torn apart, with the track and tunnel shattered and the sled towed and buried in the timber—a feat of raw strength far beyond any known predator. The stalk continued as they attempted to retrieve the remaining gear, with the entities throwing sticks and stones to intercept their movement. The incident climaxed when they encountered the entity once more near their transport; it displayed a chilling level of predatory patience, standing in the open and daring the men to shoot before vanishing into the spruce line.
The experience highlighted the extreme territorial aggression of the entities in the Chugach Range and left the cousins permanently wary of returning to the site.
