In 1979, two brothers, Derek and James, ventured up the Snake River in Bristol Bay aboard their 32-foot fishing boat for a post-season excursion. On their third morning, anchored in a dense fog bank, they were awakened by an incredibly powerful, sharp 'whoop' vocalization that vibrated the entire vessel. Investigating the shore, they detected a large, dark presence stalking them from the dense grass line.
When they fired a warning shot into the mud, a massive, ash-gray humanoid bolted from the brush and vanished into the timber. During their retreat up-river, they were stalked by a presence that perfectly imitated the sound of their skiff’s outboard engine. Later, after being forced to anchor, they sighted a colossal, lanky, 12-foot-tall entity watching them from the shoreline brush.
The brothers were repeatedly shadowed, paced, and harassed by the creatures, who threw rocks to intercept their escape. The encounter climaxed when they were chased downriver by a multi-creature unit, hearing high-pitched, vocalizing roars echoing from the banks until they finally managed to outrun the entities, leaving them with a lifelong, traumatizing awareness of the creatures' hunting tactics.
