In 1979, two brothers, Derek and James, ventured up the Snake River in Bristol Bay aboard their 32-foot fishing boat for a post-season excursion. On their third morning, anchored in a dense fog bank, they were awakened by an incredibly powerful, sharp 'whoop' vocalization that vibrated the entire vessel. Investigating the shore, they detected a large, dark presence stalking them from the dense grass line.

In 1987, a Bristol Bay native named Joseph took two younger cousins from out-of-state to the northern shore of Togiak Lake on a skiff. While the boys cast from a shoreline grassy spit, Joseph stood guard with a shotgun, hearing a crisp, human-like whistle from the brush. Thinking it was a local, he shouted out, receiving no response. Moments later, the intense sensation of surveillance returned; Joseph spotted dark, shifting movement within the tall grass.

In 1984, an avid fisherman named John was driving the McCarthy Road toward a small lake north of McCarthy. While fishing a roadside tributary, John was repeatedly targeted by stones thrown from the dense alder brush—projectiles thrown with such force they shattered against the water's surface. Intrigued and slightly annoyed, John attempted to investigate but encountered only eerie silence.

In 1982, Paul and his son Alec, who was ten years old, were on a hunting and fishing trip when they came across a hairy man.  As Paul navigated Alec and himself down the trail back to the cabin, they were followed.  Once back at the cabin and inside, they were terrorized all night.

Stewart and Cliff, both from out of state, share their experience from 2016 while trout fishing in a remote area.

I recount an experience by William, an Elder, while at his cabin in Southeast Alaska back in 1978.  While fishing for crab, he was trying to scare off what he thought was a sea otter stealing his crabs by throwing rocks at it.  He left Alaska and moved to the lower 48.

Eight years ago on a halibut fishing trip, Clifford and Denise had an encounter while hiking to pass time to wait out a storm front.

Twenty years ago, Sabrina and her aunt were scouting for a berry picking spot off the Denali Highway when they had an odd experience where they lost track of direction and distance.  Sabrina never picked berries again since this experience.
